Frequently Asked Questions

Who takes care of the garden?

The garden is owned by Sutherland South Amenity Limited, itself made up of 12 shareholders being the freeholders of the adjacent buildings along Sutherland Avenue. The Board of Directors run the Company, and by extension the garden. The Board have appointed Westbourne Management to take over the day-to-day running of the amenity space.

How do I get a key for the gate?

  • Keys can be obtained from Westbourne Management in return for a deposit of £50. You will need a recent utility bill or tenancy agreement proving you are a resident of a property along the adjacent terrace (115 - 137 Sutherland Avenue, odd numbers only).

  • Up to two keys can be purchased per property and the £50 will be refunded when the key is returned. If you lose your key the replacement charge is also £50.

  • Key fobs should not be transferred or loaned to others, including contractors.

  • Any Freeholder/leaseholder requiring scaffolding at the rear of the house, or undertaking other works requiring access to the garden, must place a deposit of £1,000 with Westbourne Management. On receipt of cleared funds, one key for the gate will be made available for the contractor and must be returned when the works have been completed.

Why aren't dogs allowed in the garden?

Unlike some much larger neighbouring communal gardens, our garden is quite small. With limited shared space, the Board has prioritised access for residents, rather than their pets. Nearby Paddington Recreational ground has good facilities for dog owners.

Who can I contact if there's a problem?

Westbourne Management are responsible for the day-to-day running of the garden and can be contacted here.
